Using INDEX and MATCH instead of VLOOKUP

INDEX and MATCH functions are very useful in Excel when the VLOOKUP function won’t do what you need it to do.  This video shows how you can use Match to find a value in a table based on a text string.

Once you have position information for the text match you can use the INDEX to return any data from that row or column.

This video covers this technique very clearly and shows how you can use two MATCH functions to return the row and column numbers to use in an INDEX statement.
